Nicki Minaj Reveals Past Abusive Relationship In Upcoming Documentary
Nicki Minaj is known for her strength, and she’s finally revealing to fans where it came from in her new documentary Queen.

On October 2, Minaj shared two clips of her upcoming project titled  Queen.  In the videos, she gets honest about the domestic violence she witnessed as a child and lived through as an adult.

Minaj recalled her father’s behaviour towards her mother. She stated that as a little girl, whenever her father got abusive with her mother, she would often throw her arms in front of her mother and protect her.

“I remember when my mother would let my father be violent with her,” the “Chun-Li” hitmaker began before a tense pause. “She always brings up this story. As a little girl, I would stand in front of my mother and go like this,” she added as she spread her arms apart.
With tears trickling down her cheeks, the 35-year-old rapper added, “Maybe some people would describe me as abrasive because I vowed from that age that no man would ever abuse me, call out my name or treat me like that. And then all of a sudden, that was my life.”

“Who was I going to inspire when I had nothing in me to give? I let one human being make me so low that I didn’t even remember who I was. I was scared to get in the studio. I didn’t believe in myself.”

It wasn’t until she relocated to Miami and then back to New York City that she rediscovered her passion for singing. Minaj then recorded Coco Chanel and Good Form, both of which are featured in  Queen.
