Three Generations of Signature Looks: Noor Jehan, Hina & Natasha
Natasha Khalid of the eponymous Natasha’s salon in Karachi reconstructs her grandmother, Madam Noor Jehan’s signature look; her mother Hina’s classic wedding makeup; and her own minimalistic choices in this family inspired make-up tutorial
using the best make-up brands of today.

STUNNING GRANDMOTHER NOOR JEHAN IN HER ICONIC BEAUTY LOOK

1

For my Nani’s look it was all classic ‘50’s glamour with winged eyes, a matte face and lips. Her look was all about the eyebrows and the eyes, with peachy pink, radiant cheeks that she loved. She always used to dab a bit of the lipstick she had on her cheeks for a creamy consistency. Her lips were
always properly lined with a lip pencil and finished with a mix of lipstick shades to achieve gorgeous, bright shades. Here are the products I would use to recreate her look.

BEAUTIFUL MOTHER HINA IN BOLD 80s GLAMOUR

Her look was all about the 80’s allure with big bold eyes, colours and textures. It’s still a look bride’s love, especially wearing a traditional red outfit. To re-create this, I would focus on achieving a flawless canvas for the makeup by prepping the skin first to get that glowy, bright skin that everyone
loves so much. I would mix my foundation with shimmer powder to give the skin a beautiful porcelain finish. Blush will be used to add a perfect flush to the face and keep it angular around the hollows of the cheeks to do the contouring that was famous at that time which was done with blush as opposed to bronze powder. Keeping the eyeshades light, I would add eye kohl in the inner rim of the eye for that smoky rim and dramatic false lashes for that heavy flared lash, topped with heavy mascara on the top and bottom lashes. While putting on mascara on the bottom lashes though I would put three to four coats for a heavy lower lash to get that doe-eyed look. Finally, I would mix a couple of matte lipstick shades to achieve the perfect coral red lip colour and top it off by clear lip gloss. Here are the products I would use.

PRETTY GRANDAUGHTER NATASHA PREFERS MINIMILISM

3
For this look it was all soft and minimalistic kind of makeup in pastels and pinks. Starting off with primer, I applied my foundation with a damp beauty blender to give the skin coverage that adheres well to the skin. Using concealer, I knocked out any darkness under the skin and added a blush with shimmer powder to my cheeks for a beautiful pink and highlighted cheek. I contoured the hollows of the cheek, under the chin and sides of the nose to finish off the skin. I used pink eyeshadow over my lids with soft brown eyeliner, followed by curling the lashes with an eyelash curler and then applying two coats of mascara. I mixed two lipstick shades and topped them off with lip-gloss. Here are the products I used.
