Top Five Fastest Cars in The World

Top Five Fastest Cars in The World
When it comes to cars, there is nothing more electrifying and enthralling than speed. Cars are the four-wheeled tech beasts that show us the potential of human engineering. Maybe it’s the adrenaline rush that comes with driving a fast car that so many adrenaline junkies and car freaks would risk their lives to achieve faster speeds and higher accelerations. Some have even paid the piper with their lives in the pursuit of speed, including Paul Walker, the famous actor from the Fast & Furious film series.

If you're also a fan of speed, these are the top five of the fastest cars in the world. However, keep in mind that these super fast cars are also the most expensive cars around.

5th - Lotec C1000 Mercedes-Benz

When it comes to cars being rare, there aren’t any rarer than the Lotec C1000. Many supercars get small production runs, but Lotec C1000 is one-of-a-kind. Yes, there is only one such car, making it an extremely rare supercar. Lotec C1000 was made back in the mid-nineties and is powered by a 5.6 liter Mercedes V8 engine force-fed by dual turbochargers. Despite being made in 1995, the car only weighs 2380lbs, thanks to the use of carbon fiber and aerospace materials.

All of these specs are pretty awesome when you consider that this car was made back in 1995. It’s believed that Lotec C1000 can hit up to 268mph and if that’s true then C1000 is definitely one of the world’s fastest cars, even today.

4th - SSC Ultimate Aero TT

SSC Ultimate Aero is a car manufactured by SSC North America, a company formerly known as Shelby SuperCars. SSC Ultimate Aero is the mid-engine supercar that held the record for being the world's fastest car in production for up to three years.

Of course, this record was taken away from Ultimate Aero when Bugatti launched its Veyron Super Sport. Surprisingly, the Ultimate Aero was reinstated for five days in 2013 as the fastest car in production. This beast of a car is even more impressive because it can easily hit 200mph in just 16seconds.

3rd - 9ff Porsche 911 GT9 GTurbo 1200

The GT9 GTurbo 1200 is a supercar built by 9ff, a German tuning company. It’s based on the legendary Porsche 911 and has similar exterior styling and looks to that of the Porsche 911. Although the GT9 is faster than the original Veyron, it loses out to the Veyron’s SuperSport model. GT9-R is unique because no two versions are alike and owners can get the car to be customized and personalized to their liking.

2nd - Koenigsegg Agera R

Koenigsegg may not be a household name just yet when it comes to supercars, but just like Bugatti and SSC, it has developed quite a reputation in a very small time. Beating most of the supercars available on the market, Agera R by Koenigsegg blows all other sports cars away and has recorded a top speed very close to Bugatti Veyron SuperSport edition.

It's one of the fastest and most beautiful supercars in the world and speed isn't the only thing Agera R has going for it because it also looks exquisite.

1st - Bugatti Veyron 16.4 SuperSport

Bugatti Veyron has held the world record for being the fastest car in production for years now. Not only that, but it's also the very first car ever to break the 250mph mark. However, it lost out the title to Koenigsegg for a brief time but then Bugatti introduced its Veyron 16.4 SuperSport edition which can get to a maximum speed of 268mph.

But what makes the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport so special is not just the speed but also how effortlessly it can reach these top speeds. It’s a luxurious and comfortable car to sit in, despite the fact that it’s a supercar. This may be the reason why despite being worth GBP 1.6 million, the Veyron is still very much in demand.
