Up Close And Personal With Heartthrob Actor Farhan Malhi
H! Pakistan has a heart to heart chat with one of the most versatile actors out there, Farhan Ahmad Malhi. Farhan began his career as a VJ on Style360 and then made his acting debut in the 2015 television series 'Kaisay Tum Se Kahoon'. Farhan looks very sharp while playing an edgy character Aqeel and also shows off major gym goals in his recent drama 'Uraan' We spoke to Farhan about his journey as an actor, his work and where he sees himself in the future.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Why did you decide to become an actor? Did you always have the desire to be a performer?

I never decided to be an actor. it just came naturally to me, I was in fact working as a white collar job and was well settled in the corporate world. Everything just fell into right place on it own  when the self-realisation hit me that I am a natural performer and an athlete born with an artistic soul.

What is it about acting and performing that speaks to your soul? When you act, do you immerse yourself in the character that you perform?

Acting is all about putting your heart and soul in it other wise you are just blurting out dialogues! To answer your question in a very direct way though, yes sometimes it's hard to get out of a character I've played for a while!

Who are your favourite actors? (Hollywood, Lollywood or Bollywood)

  • Christian Bale ,

  • Ali Zafar

  • Akshay Kumar

Do you have the desire to work behind the camera? Will we be seeing a Farhan Malhi directed/produced film or drama soon or is it just acting for you?

Yes for sure, there is whole other unseen level of Farhan Malhi behind the camera!  I have a natural 'Director's Eye' and I'm already in talks for the business of my first production!

Out of all the work you’ve done on television, which one has been your own favourite?

I think out of all the characters that I have played till date, my favourite would be the character of Aqeel, I played in the recent drama serial 'Uraan'

How has your journey in the Pakistani entertainment industry been so far? Has it been a pleasant ride?

There are always ups and downs but you get to learn through these, so it was fair in my case, I just think of them as minor glitches which helped me in shaping my career in right direction.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I would establish a SYSTEM here, there should be a system for every thing! If it were up to me then there would be no zubani kalami type things, where people have so much margin for tongue twisting and other cheap tricks!

Let’s talk about Farhan Malhi the person. What do you do when you’re not working?

I am a free soul, I travel around the world and explore, set fitness goals, learn a new set of skills and love spending time with family and friends from my close circle.

Name the three most important character traits you think a person should have?

Self confidence, credibility and a sense of humour

What are your pet peeves, or things you can’t stand in a person?

Bad breath, bullying and habitual liars

And finally where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Well I will soon be playing a strong character in a web series. I hope to continue doing dramas and off course appearing on the big screen if Pakistani cinema keeps progressing!
