HALF HOUR WITH. JUNAID JAMSHAID REEL TO REAL
You made your acting debut in drama Sinf-e-Ahan. Tell us about the experience? How did you get noticed for the role?
It was an amazing experience working with such a talented cast and experienced director. I was completely flabbergasted by the response for this role. Thank God my fans liked my character in this drama.
We have always known you as a model. How did you make the switch to acting?
I did start my career as a model but deep down I always knew that one day I would branch out to acting as well. I was lucky enough that I had been offered this role on a random meet up with Humayun Saeed in his office. It was a pleasant surprise for me as well.
Which medium do you prefer - acting or modelling? Why?
Both mediums have their own pros and cons and I enjoy both but if I have to choose one, I would prefer acting as one has great margin to prove one’s skills.
Will we be seeing more of you on screens? Any other acting projects in the pipeline?
Yes, I am assigned two more projects and soon you are going to see me on another channel with a different production house. I hope my fans love these characters too.
You are also a doting father to an adorable baby girl. How do you juggle fatherhood and long working hours?
Of course, at times it becomes difficult, as they are settled in Lahore and I am here in Karachi for another project. I miss spending time with my daughter Ezzah. But my wife is a great support and she always understands my professional commitments. So whenever, I get time I prefer spending it with my family.
You share the same name as the famous late musician. Was there ever a time where people wouldn’t take you seriously?
(Laughs) My father used to admire the legend Junaid Jamshed’s music and when I was born he named me after him. People usually smile when I tell them my name and at times they pass interesting comments too.
Three bucket list items?
To work with the great Nawazuddin Siddiqui once in my life time, go bungee jumping and summit K2.
Current song on repeat?
Tu Jhoom (Abida Parveen and Naseebo Lal).
What is that one thing you want to achieve by the end of 2022?
To work with great directors of this industry/ to get the best recognition.
Junaid Jamshaid in three words?
Persistent, focused and honest.
