Rapper Eva B Made Her Presence Felt At LSA 2019

The 18th LUX Style awards entertained the audiences with exciting performances, kicking off the show with Momina Mustehsan featuring Rapper Eva B, setting the right tone for the glamorous night.

Eva B is an emerging artist from Lyari, who using a stage name in order to keep her identity hidden as per the wishes of her family, is another example of a young, Pakistani girl trying to shine through all the odds. She gained a following when she came to the spotlight with her rap song Gully Girls-its lyrics emphasise the message of women empowerment.  ‘Jab Zindagi apni hai, Tou marzi doosron ki kyun hai’ a line from the song is all too relatable, and has become a feminist anthem, spreading light on the harsh reality of Pakistan, where women are desperately trying to navigate their way within our oppressed society.

This is a critical time for women in our nation, because finally their concerns are being heard. Pakistan is not an easy country for women to live in and navigate as patriarchal values are more often than not, the final word, but with the emergence of young artists like Eva B, we are comforted with the relief that there's a glimmer of hope.
