Katy Perry and Gigi Hadid Denied Chinese Ahead Of The Victoria's Secret fashion show

Katy Perry, Gigi Hadid and Irina Sharipova have been banned from China ahead of the Victoria's Secret fashion show.

Chinese officials allegedly rejected their visa applications after locals accused the stars of being involved in political and racist incidents.

Perry was allegedly rejected because of a political incident from 2015, and Hadid was banned for filming a "racist" video, according to the New York Post's Page Six column.

Irini Sharipova and other models including Julia Belyakova and Kate Grigorievea were also denied a work visa, according to reports.

Perry had been initially assured that she'd gain access to the show. However, after the Chinese government officials came across the 2015 concert in Taiwan where the singer wore a dress with sunflowers ─ a symbol adopted by anti-China protesters ─ they reversed their decision.

Moreover, Katy was seen waving a Taiwanese flag during the concert in show of support for the country, which has been pushing for independence with China for years now.

Gigi has been banned over an Instagram video — in which she holds up a biscuit shaped like a Buddha statue and squinted her eyes as if she were imitating the religious figure.

But Katy and Gigi aren't the first celebrities to be banned from China, Page Six reports.

"Maroon 5 was banned a few years ago because one band member wished the Dalai Lama happy birthday on Twitter."

"For every artist who wants to perform in China, officials comb through their social-media and press reports to see if they have done anything deemed to be offensive to the country," a source told the publication.
