Madhuri Dixit: Love Across Borders

Madhuri Dixit: Love Across Borders
Madhuri Dixit, a beloved Bollywood actress, has achieved power and admiration to the extent that she is called the female Bachan.

Back in her day, she had the ability to carry a film on her shoulders to become a super block buster whether it's was Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) or Raja (1995).

In fact, according to Guinness Book of World Records, 2000, the first 100 crore film in Bollywood was Hum Aapke Hain Kaun which established Madhuri Dixit as the highest paid actress in Hindi cinema.

The love for Dixit has crossed the border where many Pakistani actors have expressed Madhuri as their absolute favourite.

‎Mahira khan, our May cover star, calls Madhuri her devi. In conversation with H! Pakistan, Humsafar director Sarmad Khoosat asked her to not come back to Pakistan without meeting Madhuri during her first visit to India.

Dixit has been used as a flattering reference for a lot of actresses in Pakistan and Mahira is no exception. In our May issue feature on Mahirah Khan, Khoosat refers to her as his Ganga. (Ganga was the protagonist character of all Subhash Ghai movies played by Madhuri in Khalnayak and Ram Lakhan)‎.

Mahira also mentioned that she decided to become an actress when she first saw the song Bada Dukh Dena from the movie Ram Lakhan as a mere child.

Shehroz Sabzwari, an actor often commended for his dancing skills, describes Madhuri’s dancing abilities as ultimate. He has been reported to have said,

"There will be many actresses/dancers but no one comes close to her talent and elegance. She is the one and only ultimate diva!"

Pakistani heart throb, Imran Abbas also declared fondness for Madhuri dixit while talking to H! Pakistan,

"She is my most favourite actress and I say it everywhere. When she dances her body, her soul even hair to nails dance. Its poetry in motion.”

Comparing current co-star Anushka and previous on-screen partner Bipasha to Dixit, he implied that although they are equally respected and possess a great deal of talent, Madhuri brings a certain magic to the screen that no one else can.

Imran further added that the cinema of 80s, 90s didn't have great stylists, costume designers and most of the times Madhuri would not be dressed perfectly yet those things didn't matter. She still looked so good and charismatic. Her talent made up for all the glitches which made her a complete heroine.

“Her smile, expressions define cinema and beauty. She has a larger than life persona. They don't make them anymore. It stopped at her”, he said.

Another talented actor Noor Hasan was all praise for the Bollywood beauty explaining how he fell in love with her for the first time and since then the love hasn't ended. ‎

"Besides the fact that she's a phenomenal actor and performer, I love her aura and her energy. I've been falling in love with her every time I see her but the first time ever was her song Hum Ko Aaj Kal Hai Intezar" (Sailaab, 1990).”

‎Pakistani musicians, Ali Zafar and Shafqat Amanat, recently flew down to Delhi to attend a summit with Madhuri Dixit as the chief guest where they performed Ek Larki Ko Dekha for her.

Rumours are abuzz Madhuri Dixit will be seen in a comeback sharing the screen space with a Pakistani heartthrob in the leads. We can only hope it’s true. Watch this space for more!
