The Untold Story: Sarbjit

The movie is based on a real-life story of Sarbjit Singh, who was wrongfully convicted and imprisoned in a Pakistani jail for over two decades, while his sister Dalbir Kaur (played by Ashwariya Rai) struggles to free her innocent brother. Starring Randeep Hooda, Ashwariya Rai and Richa Chadda as lead roles, Omung Kumar’s second biopic has managed to bring out sentiments of its audience.

The movie has a lot of tear jerking scenes including when Dalbir, who treated her brother more like a son, goes to meet him in jail for the first time in 18 years. Since then her agenda is to get her brother released.

The movie hits a climax when Dalbir fights her way along with the lawyer, Awais Sheikh and proves Sarbjit innocent and catches the real culprit Manjit Kaur. However, after Sarbjit is declared innocent and granted bail, he gets attacked in jail where he gets badly injured and is hospitalised.

The event that took place in 1990’s, finally reveals itself! The powerful combination of Randeep Hooda, Ashwariya Rai & Richa Chadda makes the movie worth watching and interesting. Aishwariya really stretched her boundaries by playing this soulful role. Sarabjit will surely add to Ashwariya’s fan following!
Randeep Hooda’s transition from a free-spirited man to a bewildered prisoner to a vulnerable lost soul is commendable.
Richa Chadda sheds light on the Punjabi setting and plays the role of Sarbjit’s wife.

Hats off to Omung Kumar for pulling off this brilliant movie! He has received wonderful feedback from other actors including Priyanka Chopra & Sri Devi.
