1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you first got into the beauty industry?
At 16, fresh out of intermediate and unsure about my future, my parents encouraged me to learn a skill. I started as a helper in a salon, but my employer saw potential in me and taught me haircuts, colour, blow-drying—and later, the new trend of lashes in Pakistan. With hard work and guidance from my mentor, I gained skills that shaped both my career and my life.
2. What inspired you to specialise in lash artistry?
Lashes have this incredible ability to transform the entire expression of the eyes without heavy makeup. I loved the precision, creativity, and instant confidence boost they give. The combination of art and skill in lash work inspired me to specialise and refine my expertise in this area.
3. How did the idea for Lashes by Yasmeen come about?
It began with a dream to create Pakistan’s first studio dedicated solely to lashes—a place where artistry meets genuine care. Every set is tailored, personal, and designed to make clients feel completely at ease.
4. How do you keep up with new techniques and trends in the lash industry?
I stay ahead of trends by teaching lash extension classes and experimenting with different styles for each client, tailoring every look to their unique eye and face shape. I love customising designs that enhance their natural beauty.
5. What’s the most common misconception people have about lash extensions?
A common misconception is that lash extensions damage natural lashes. In reality, when applied correctly and professionally, they are completely safe and won’t harm your natural lashes.
6. What do you love most about working with your clients?
I love building a personal connection with each client—understanding their style, customising lashes to suit their eyes and personality, and seeing the happiness my work brings them.
7. What have been some challenges you’ve faced as a lash artist and studio owner?
One of my biggest challenges was during COVID, when my lash supplies from the UK were delayed, making it difficult to continue services. Another tough moment was when heavy rains flooded my studio, leaving me completely overwhelmed.
8. What’s one lesson you’ve learned in your entrepreneurial journey so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to stay focused on your goals and be honest with yourself. When you do, Allah paves the way for you.
9. What was your vision when you first started your studio, and has it evolved since then?
My vision from the start was to create a safe, dedicated space for lashes. Alhamdulilah, it has grown beyond my dreams, and today, Lashes by Yasmeen is recognised as one of Pakistan’s top lash studios.
10. Finally, what inspires you daily to keep creating beautiful lashes?
I genuinely love what I do—lashes aren’t just work for me, they’re my passion. Even on low days, creating beautiful lashes lifts my mood, and I stay true and honest in every set I do.
