From Sydney to Birmingham—and across the cricket-loving heart of Pakistan—Kamil Khan, multicultural cricket ambassador for Cricket Australia, has led the Pakistan Champions to back-to-back World Championship of Legends (WCL) finals as the team’s devoted owner.
This season, the Champions blazed through the tournament with an unbeaten run to the final, topping the table in style. In the title clash, they ran into one of the most memorable knocks in WCL history—AB de Villiers, “Mr. 360,” produced a masterclass at age 41 that ultimately sealed the trophy for the opposition. While the silverware narrowly slipped away, the Champions’ campaign was a showcase of skill, resilience, and unity, winning admiration from fans around the globe.
The WCL is among cricket’s premier international tournaments, bringing together legendary players for high-energy contests. This season saw the Champions captained by Mohammad Hafeez, succeeding first-season skipper Younis Khan. Though Shahid Afridi didn’t take the field, his presence remained magnetic, drawing global attention and ensuring Pakistan remained one of the most talked-about teams of the season.
Under Kamil’s leadership, the squad was packed with star power: Shoaib Malik, Sharjeel Khan, Asif Ali, Sohail Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Aamer Yamin, Umar Amin, Ruman Raees, the ever-magical Saeed Ajmal, Kamran Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, and Fawad Alam, all under the guidance of head coach Arshad Khan.
Kamil’s influence goes far beyond the WCL. In Australia, he has become a driving force for community engagement through initiatives such as the Multicultural Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground and vibrant Eid celebrations, using cricket as a bridge between cultures and as a celebration of diversity. His work continues to inspire pride within the Pakistani diaspora and beyond.
And the story is far from over. With two consecutive near-misses behind him, Kamil Khan has his sights firmly set on the trophy that has so far eluded the Champions. As he vows to return next season with renewed determination, fans can expect the pursuit of glory to be fiercer than ever.
